All the information from the 1st retail quarter in 2023
The Sales Barometer of the Portuguese Association of Distribution Companies (APED) gives an overview of sales in the retail sector in the first quarter of 2023.
In total, the volume of retail sales increased by 8.1% over the same period last year. Food retail alone grew in sales by 15.1% this quarter. Non-food retail, on the other hand, saw a 1.9% drop in sales volume, due to the fuel sector (-6.9%). There were positive results in the entertainment (+26.1%), clothing (+18.9%) and small household appliances (+18.7%) sectors.
